PET Scan Poopers

29 May

My dad was supposed to have his post treatment PET scan tomorrow, so he took today off of work and avoided carbs and tried to figure out what to eat today. WELLLLL, right after he got back from the grocery store, the office called and said that they never got the referral and won’t have it by tomorrow, so he’s NOT having the PET scan tomorrow. Needless to say, my dad’s a little upset about that since he changed his whole schedule around, so now he’s getting it next week, which means doing this over again next week. It could be worse, but it’s just inconvenient. Still hoping and praying for the same good results that his last MRI gave us!

The Most Interesting Kid in the World

18 Jan

My brother was the Phantom of the Opera in his school’s ballet!  🙂  My dad is even at work today! Surprised me, but I’m glad he feels well enough to do that.

My brother always has fun no matter what he’s doing. He’s the most interesting kid in the world…like those Dos Equis commercials. He scuba dives and does marine bio research, dances hip hop, modern, and ballet, he’s in sheriff explorers because he wants to be a cop after he does the Marines, he’s in some kind of drag racing group that his physics teacher runs, he trains these kids at the gym, and he trains dogs! I have no idea where he finds the time for all this. Probably because he never does homework lol. It’s crazy! I get tired just thinking about it.

My brother gets really passionate about things that interest him, so I’m not sure how, but he manages to make time. This usually involves reducing time spent on schoolwork, lol. Most of the dance stuff happens during school, though, since he’s at a school for the arts.

Habari Gani? Ujima!

28 Dec

Ujima means collective work and responsibility!

Light the previous candles in the same order that you lit them before, and then light the green candle on the far right using the black candle.

Ujima means to build and maintain out community together, and make others’ struggles and problems our own so that we may solve them together. We reflect on what this means to us…then we eat, ha! See a theme?

Lame Break is Lame!

22 Dec

So…crappiest break in the history of breaks 😦 this better improve, because it’s renal when I get back to school…ugh -__-

I don’t even know if I’ll be home for Christmas…I really wanna be home for Christmas, because I missed Christmas completely last year. I was down for the count, so to speak. Didn’t wake up at all that day. LAME! And I wanna do family stuff…and junk. I know my mom has to work on Christmas, but I at least want to hang out with my dad!

I just wanna leeeeeave! It just sucks, because I still feel absolutely awful 😦

Early Morning Ouchies

6 Dec

I couldn’t fall asleep until about 2:30 am and then I woke up at 4:30 am with excruciating pain in my jaw. That’s a new one for me. It just won’t go away, and I can’t go to sleep! I’m exhausted and frustrated, and my pain meds aren’t exactly helping too much right now. Not like I want them to, at least. Now, I feel like I understand the babies that cry when they’re tired, but just won’t go to sleep. Also, I don’t even know if this is a symptom of anything. I don’t know if this is something I should be concerned about, or if this is just another random side effect of one of the lovely medications I’m on. Oh, joy -__-. It could even be a non-related thing, who knows? I am going to call and ask, it’s just annoying that I can’t even tell anymore. They all kind of blend together into an indistinguishable blur of crappiness.

In addition, I just got home. This is good. I was planning to stay here. That’s still the plan. However, I seem to be developing a cold or something of the sort, because that’s just how I roll. You know, living on the edge! I’m hoping it stays as a small, normal, manageable cold that I stay home for, blow my nose, get in a few good sneezes, etc. You know…healthy people colds. That’s not how my body tends to react to colds or infections of any sort anymore, but it’s always finding new ways to surprise me, so I hope it can surprise me this time by behaving itself. Go, little immune system, go! I believe in you. =)

I talked to my dad, and he cheered me up! He was talking about the fantasy football league that he and some of the neighbors are in. Sadly, he didn’t make the playoffs this year, but he did win his last game…or something haha. He was bored because he doesn’t like to sit still for too long, so he went to get his watch fixed, and even looked at some new jobs. I was under the impression that he wouldn’t be working right now, but I guess he’s trying to fit in some smaller jobs until he starts treatment. Stave off the boredom until then, I suppose.

That’s all really.
